As a result, doctors might be put in tremendously difficult situations needing to decide who gets help based on the availability of medical tools. Could we manage the situation differently? If yes, what kind of lessons shall we learn to fix the healthcare system once and for all?

Ronen Tal-Botzer

MOD: Beny Rubinstein

By its nature, medical data “suffers” from higher levels of complexity, noise, sparseness, etc.. These problematic characteristics, make it harder for classic machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) tools to infer accurate insights from medical data. This is also why, unfortunately, personalized medicine and data-driven medical research and are still lagging behind data-driven breakthroughs in other disciplines. To our help comes a new breed of AI, which is stronger than its previous forms. It is based on a promising technology: Beginning by using a classic AI technology to mine medical data, but then, using the new AI to automatically – and intelligently – improve the classic AI. Results collected this year clearly demonstrate, not only a reduction in development cost and time but also an increase in AI’s accuracy and “cleverness”.
